Dr Charles Despres:
Dr Charles Despres
obtained his
doctorate from the University of Utah (USA) by working on the organising
implications of large-scale information systems. His subsequent research
has centred on the triad of information, organisation and culture, and
since 1997 his academic and professional career has concentrated on the
emerging field of Knowledge Management. |

He joined IMD
(Lausanne, Switzerland) in 1991 as an ABD Research Fellow, completed his
doctoral work and moved to the south of France four years later to assume
research / professorial roles at the Institute d’Administration des
Entreprises, Aix-en-Provence and the Theseus Institute (Sophia Antipolis).
Charles was Professor of Organisation and Director of International
Development at the Graduate School of Business, Marseille-Provence from
1997 - 2002. In 2003 he joined the Conservatoire National des Arts et
Metiers in Paris as Director of Programs at its International Institute of
Management. |

He has
authored around 75 articles, chapters, monographs, grants or proceedings,
and co-authored two books, Leveraged Innovation (Macmillan, 1998, with F.
Bidault & C. Butler) and Knowledge Horizons (Butterworth-Heinemann, 2000,
with D. Chauvel). |

Dr Daniele Chauvel:
Dr Daniele Chauvel
is Head of
the Management Development Programs and Special Projects at the
International Institute of Management, Conservatoire National des Arts et
Métiers, Paris, France. Formerly, she was the Director of ecKM, the
european center for Knowledge Management, at the Graduate School of
Business Marseille Provence (France) in close collaboration with Charles
Despres. She previously directed the Information Center at the Theseus
Institute, an inter-national Management Institute and was co-founder and
co-director of the Theseus Knowledge Management Competence Center (KMC2)
with Charles Despres; prior to that, she introduced experimental computer
based systems in the French educational system. |

Her
background is in structural linguistics, language, communication and
social sciences research methodologies and she now centres her research
and writing on the field of Information and Knowledge Management. Daniele
has designed and conducted seminars on Knowledge Management for MBA
students and senior executives. She has co-authored more than 30 articles,
chapters and proceedings on Knowledge Management with C. Despres and
co-edited a book “Knowledge Horizons: the Present and the Promise of
Knowledge Management”, Butterworth-Heinemann, 2000, with C. Despres, too. |

Larry Prusak:
Larry Prusak is a researcher and consultant and was formerly the founder and
Executive Director of IBM Institute for Knowledge Management (IKM), a global
consortium of member organizations engaged in advancing the practice of
knowledge management through action research. Larry has had extensive
experience, within the U.S. and internationally, in helping organizations work
with their information and knowledge resources. He has also consulted with
many U.S. and overseas government agencies and international organizations
(NGO’s). He currently teaches in the knowledge management executive education
program at the Harvard Business School, and is a distinguished Scholar in
Residence at Babson College, where he co-directs a knowledge research program. |

Karl Wiig:
Karl Wiig is a Senior Consultant with Cutter Consortium's
Business Intelligence Practice and a contributor to the
Business Intelligence Advisory Service. He is chairman of Knowledge
Research Institute, Inc., where he assists companies in implementing and
planning new approaches to operate their business with a focus on expertise
and professional knowledge, often with the use of advanced technology. Mr.
Wiig works extensively with organizations in building internal knowledge
management capabilities by focusing on business-related issues with senior
management, tactical approaches and solutions with middle management, and
hands-on methods and techniques with professional knowledge practitioners.
Previously, he was a management consulting partner with Coopers & Lybrand. He
was with Arthur D. Little, Inc. for 17 years where he started and led the
Policy and Systems Analysis group and, later created and directed the Applied
Artificial Intelligence Center. He has an international reputation for his
work in knowledge management, applied artificial intelligence, operations
management, and planning. He has published five books and more than 70
textbook chapters and research articles in refereed journals and proceedings.
